In-person Worship Services are back!

In-person Worship Services: Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

>> Beacon Church worship services are returning to James Bay on  Sunday, September 12, as per the orders of the Public Health Officer, with “No capacity limits or restrictions on religious gatherings and worship services.”

Please note, as per the Pronvice's rules for Places of Worship, we are not requiring facemasks and will not be requiring proof of vaccination to attend our services:

Worship services are exempt from both the provincial mask mandate that requires mask use in indoor public spaces and the requirement to provide proof of immunization against COVID-19 to access some events, services and businesses. (BC Centre for Disease Control)

We will meet at the James Bay Community School Centre, 140 Oswego Street, Victoria.

Will I have to wear a mask? That depends. The PHO still recommends wearing masks in public places, especially for unvaccinated people, but it is no longer mandatory in church. If you prefer not to wear a mask, please use the side or rear entrances. Look for the signs. But the front lobby, washrooms, and hallways are shared by other clients and staff of the James Baby Community School Centre. Therefore masks are required in those common areas.

Do I need to register? No. Just show up.

Will social distancing be required? No. But if someone else wishes to keep their distance, please be kind and understanding. Perhaps leave an empty seat between you if it makes them more comfortable.

Will there be singing? You bet.

Will there be communion? Yup.

Will there be childcare or Sunday school? There is limited preschool age care right now. Sunday school for pre to k is expected to resume in October.

Will there be coffee? That's our plan!

Can I stay home if I don't feel safe attending? Yes. Although we recommend attending in-person, you can still join from home via live stream video:  You can find out more about that here.

We are also continuing to provide daily Bible teaching in the form of regular devotional videos, which you can find here, and a live, Saturday morning, theology & book discussion, which you can learn about here (resuming soon).
